Israel offers measures to get peace talks moving again

http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/03/19/mideast.quartet/index.html?iref=allsearch

Israel is planning on building 1,600 houses on land in East Jerusalem that is disputed over. Blair is pretty certain that Israel wants to make peace with the Palestinians though. The Quartet does not like Israel's plan to build the housing units. The Quartet wants Israel and the Palestinians to come to an agreement, and wants a Palestinian state to be developed.

Do you think Israel is being fair in its plan to build these housing units? Do they have the right to build the units on the disputed land?

Will a Palestinian state ever be developed?

  1. I will not pretend that I know all to much on this matter. Yet, I feel that if they build these homes, they will probabily be destroyed within months. The contrustion will merely intensify the conflict between the two nations. I can only say that I feel as if this particular conflict is far from ever ending.

  2. If they wish to make peace with the Palestinians, building houses on disputed land is only going to seem antithetical to this claim. I agree that the houses will probably be summarily destroyed, which will undoubtedly lead to a fiercer conflict.

  3. from one point of view it seems like isreal is trying to slowly stretch it's boarders and the range of legitimacy it's government has. this looks like a power play and Isreal should not be allowed to build on land that is condsidered "disputed"
